Happy Fourth of July!

When an American says that he loves his country, he means not only that he loves the New England hills, the prairies glistening in the sun, the wide and rising plains, the great mountains, and the sea. He means that he loves an inner air, an inner light in which freedom lives and in which a man can draw the breath of self-respect. ~Adlai Stevenson

  1. Please remember that we fight against enemies, both foreign and domestic, for these freedoms each and everyday. The courage and bravery of past Americans is remarkable.

Can you imagine the bravery that it must have taken to write the Declaration of Independence and sign your name to a document that would certainly result in death if your newly formed country didn't survive?

I cannot fathom the courage that it must have taken for an American soldier to step from a boat onto a beach knowing that he would never return home.

Or the courage that it takes to continue fighting for something that a lot of Americans take for granted.
