We have been blessed with a second snow day or is it cursed? It is all in how you look at things, it is a blessing that I am getting extra study time this early in the semester; however, I am getting cabin fever! The driveway, porch and street are still icy even though we saw people slipping and sliding their way down the street. The pups slid out the back door and even the squirrels have decided it is too icy for them to sit on top of the feeder. Given the weather forecast, a high of 35 with overcast skies, I am not sure they will get the roads cleared today or not.
Last night we watched "The Hurt Locker"... yes, we are that far behind on the movies! The movie won an Oscar for Best Picture of 2009. I was honestly not sure about the movie, we watched it strictly because it won an Oscar. I realize the film was not based on facts, but the underlying themes running through the movie are true to life. The movie made me uncomfortable. Uncomfortable that we place our soldiers in harms way in a foreign land. Uncomfortable that our soldiers come home injured or worse, they do come home. Uncomfortable that our soldiers may believe the only thing they love is rush of being danger. If you have not had a chance to see the movie, watch it. If for nothing else then to remember that we have young men and women fighting in foreign lands.
