Congratulations

Photo from here

Prince William and Kate have officially tied the knot.  I wish I could have been one of the thousands standing on the street watching.  I cannot wait to get home and watch the hours that are recorded.  Wishing the couple all the happiness in the world.

List Day #13

13. Reasons why you love your significant other

I talk about Doodle in almost every post, I am truly blessed to have him in my life.  Just one of the reasons I love Doodle, is, he makes me laugh.  We laugh daily.  Laughter is the most important aspect of love, if you are not having fun, then you are not in love.

Doodle is a wonderful provider and protector of me and the kids.  He loves us unconditionally and that is a rare gift.

The Royal Wedding

I admit it... I cannot wait for the Royal Wedding on Friday.  Doodle has the TV set to record two channels all day so I will not miss a moment of the action.  What is it about the British Royals that has the world waiting with baited breath?

As a child I remember watching Diana and Prince Charles getting married, I wanted to be the one to wear the crown and fancy dress.  Looking back now, I see it was not love but an arranged marriage that turned out all wrong.  So very sad.

Now it is Prince William and Catherine getting married.  Don't misunderstand, I still want to be the one to wear the crown and fancy dress... but I believe this pair have a chance at true happiness.  They seem to enjoy each other and appear truly happy together.  I will be watching and wishing them all the best on Friday... along with the rest of the world!

List Challenge: Days 11 and 12

The List Challenge was started in January... I endeavor to do better and complete the challenge before the end of the year!

11. Acts of kindness you’ve committed

I think the best you can do is to be nicer than necessary.  Everyone you meet is fighting some sort of battle.

12 Things you want your children to know about you

If I am ever blessed with children, I want them to know, they are the light of my life.  Every breath taken is for them, I would lay my life down to keep them safe, and they are loved more than the universe.

Yellow Fever

Haven't a clue what Yellow Fever is but I have now been immunized against it for my upcoming trip to Brazil.  Alright, I looked it up you can get Yellow Fever from a mosquito bite, those are the nastiest little insects and they just love me.  If I am outside, everyone else is safe, I am the magnet.

Let me tell you, that dang shot hurt, they put it in the fleshy part of your upper underarm.  Nearly brought tears to my eyes!

Off to study, this is the last week of classes, finals next week.  Happy Monday everyone!

Birthday Getaway

Doodle and I escaped for an overnight trip to Rabun County, GA this weekend.  It was a much needed retreat from our daily life and studying.  Doodle had an appointment at a local spa for his favorite hot stone massage and came back looking refreshed.  I was reading while he was at the spa... okay, I was really watching the Swallows and wondering why they continued to want to sit on the gutter of the resort.

We had dinner at a local restaurant and the entire town must have wished DB "Happy Birthday"!  The local entertainment was wonderful, there were two singers one of which was an Elvis impersonator.   He was really good, we stayed and listened to the music for an hour after we ate, it was really a nice evening!  I love small towns, there is just something about everyone being friendlier and nicer.

Rabun County is home of Tallulah Gorge State Park.  Wow, what a beautiful place.  We had visited before and forget the camera so we went back to get a few shots.  They offer moonlight hikes during the full moon, we are planning a return visit.  I think some of the plants are native to Georgia, so I will definitely be planting those in the yard, what an enchanting place.

Welcome Little Ones

The Hummingbirds are back!  Hummingbirds remind me of G-ma and I am so happy they have returned again this year.  Doodle went out and bought extra feeders and hangers, so maybe they will not dive-bomb one another so much this year.

Why it Takes Hours to Read Three Pages

The amount of reading placed on us for the last two weeks of the semester is insane.  Why would you assign 300 plus pages when the entire class has checked out?  If you are out there and listening, please do not do this again.

While the reading is dull, I have decided it takes much longer than necessary to read thanks to the helpful cats.  Rio insists upon clawing my leg and hanging there until I relent and pick her up.

Mo on the other hands, thinks laying on the book is the most convenient place for her to be.  If I push her away, she will slowly sneak back until some part of her is covering the pages.

Why do you ask do I not leave them downstairs until I have finished... they sit at the top step and cry until the door is opened.  It is a catch-22, listen to the meowing until I go insane or have them crawling on the books until I go insane.  I think they are winning!

Raised Beds

Look what Doodle made:

This year we decided that two tomato plants was not enough for us, so DB built two 4 x 4 raised beds in an area that did not grow grass.  We planted four tomato plants, banana peppers, okra, spinach, and arugula.  I did not realize we had 12 arugula plants... good thing we like salad.  I wonder how long it will be before the bunnies and deer realize we have food for the eating?  I hope everything grows, if it does, I think additional raised beds are in our future.

Pots and More Pots

It certainly feels like Spring today.  After another round of storms Friday night, today is warm and sunny with a slight breeze.  I scavenged our last pot to plant herbs in... this year we are trying:

Thai Basil
Sweet Basil
Cinnamon Basil
Bee Balm
Oreango
Ciltrano
Chives
Strawberries

This is the Sweet Basil and Thai Basil
Chives
Does anyone know what we are suppose to do with Bee Balm?  I just loved the name of it.

Lifetime TV

Last night, Doodle said something I never thought he would utter...

"I am hooked on the Lifetime TV Movie"!

I nearly fell over, I had no idea that he even knew about Lifetime TV (total girl channel) or that he would be watching one of their movies!

Apparently, last night was True Life TV Movie night and he had gotten into the "The Craigslist Killer" while I was studying.

Did you know he committed suicide while awaiting trial, last year.

What a Night

Boy oh boy did it storm here last night!  We had rain, thunder, lightening, wind, and an amazing semi-relaxed dog!  :)  Ling was actually rather quiet, NO, she is not dead, she was DRUGGED.  When I got home last night, I broke down and gave her a half a pill.  I usually do not like to medicate her because she gets woozy, but, given the weather forecast yesterday, there was no choice! It actually worked, she relaxed enough that when the storm started, she was much better.

This morning, all is well with the world, she is fine and happy and the storm has passed us by.  Maybe these little blue pills will work on me?

4 Weeks Left

It is hard to believe I only have four weeks of this semester.  This semester has flown by, I am so glad it is winding down but that only means it will ramp back up before I know it.  I have really tried to not spend every waking moment studying but it never seems to work out that way.  I am grateful that Doodle continues to support me, makes sure I eat, debates what we are reading and tells me I am smart, even when I feel dumb!

Yesterday we had our pre-departure meeting for our mandatory study abroad in May.  I will be spending two weeks in Brazil for school.  I am excited but not thrilled, Brazil is not somewhere I have wanted to go.  I still have to finish me research paper and have the weekly discussion board posts and questions but I can at least see the end of the tunnel this semester and I know it is not a train this time.

Smiles!

April Fools Day

Happy April everyone!  The sun is desperately trying to come out, we managed 7.4 inches of rain in March, we so need to dry out.  Here are the five questions for this Friday.

1. Have you ever had surgery?
Yes, nothing ever major, just minor ones.

2. Ever ride in an ambulance?
Thankfully, No.  I hope that I never have to ride in one either!

3. How are you in a medical emergency? Panicked? Calm?
Depends on the emergency, involving me, not so good.  Involving others, a bit better but still sort of panicky.  This is one of the main reasons, I would never do well in the medical field.

4. Do you have a garden? Flowers or veggies?
Last year, we had a vegetable garden at the barn, it got a bit out of hand but turned out alright.  We also grew tomatoes and herbs on the deck last year.  This year, we are going to try building a raised bed for veggies.

5. When did you move out of your parents house?
When I left for college at 17.  I did move back in a couple of times throughout college and then left permanently when I was 22.
