Inga II
Several years ago, DB and I traveled to Alaska.  While we were in Anchorage, there was an art exhibit called:

Frost: Life and Culture of the Sami - Reindeer People of Norway by photographer Fred Ivar Utsi Klemetsen.

I was completely taken with the photos this man took and purchased one a year later.  We finally have a house that will accommodate the photo and just got it framed.  I tried getting a picture of our framing job (it turned out beautifully) but I could not prevent the glare from the glass showing everything in the room.  Instead, I copied the photo from Mr. Klemetsen website, which shows the beauty of the photo.

If you ever get the opportunity to view his exhibit in person, take the time, it is well worth it and you just might end up with a signed photograph like me.

Strange Finding

You will never guess what I found this morning, one in my trunk and two on the roof of my car!

Not bugs

Not shoes

Not a cat

How in the world did one mouse dropping end up in my trunk?  Could I have a mouse living in my car?  I thought this only occurred to people living in Ruralville?  Both Doodle and I looked and did not see any mice and nothing was eaten in the trunk... the mystery remains.

Team Building

Yesterday our office shut down at 11:00 am to have a "team building" afternoon.  It was really just an afternoon of fun and laughter because, I believe it is difficult for 50 people to team build while bowling and playing laser tag.  Where to start... the fifty people were broken into teams of 5... out of the 5 people on my team, one person chose not to bowl and 3 of us have back problems!

You do see where this is going...

The first game we held up pretty good, took a couple of Aleve, and bowled our hearts out.  The second game, the Aleve had not kicked in and we were all moving slower and just hoping the ball would make it to the pins.  Needless to say, we did not place in the top 5, I am not even sure we placed in the top 7.  But we did have fun, even with the aches and pains, it was nice getting to know some of the other people in the office that I really do not interact with.

Next up...

Laser Tag!  First let me say, this is SO MUCH FUN!  You wear these vests that light up and whenever you are hit, it vibrates (get your minds out of the gutter... this is not why I like laser tag), and you cannot shoot for a few seconds.  Of course, I would double over laughing and forget to move so the other player would just shoot me again.

Would you believe, I managed third place in my two rounds of laser tag, I just kept shooting until I hit something.  While our team did not win any of the awards, it was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.

Even if I am barely moving today!

Finally Fall

It is officially Fall!

The best part of living in the south, is Fall.  The weather is cooler, days shorter, and the humidity less.  The trees turn beautiful colors of red, yellow and orange before dropping their leaves.  The pumpkin patches, corn mazes and the state fair open for business.

That means lots of pumpkin recipes... I am so excited, my favorite!

Pumpkin Update

I hate to admit it but peeing on the pumpkins seems to work.  Okay, I really do not hate to admit it, is just a bit strange.  (Friend who told me, I will never doubt LA (Lower Alabama) advice again!)  Last night while walking the dogs, several deer were in the yard and they were definitely avoiding the pumpkin plants.  Two flowers have sprouted on the plant but it is not any bigger than it was, I am beginning to wonder if I will in fact get a pumpkin and what it will look like.

Fall arrives this weekend, so I will drag what is left of the fall decorations out and then figure out what I need to purchase.  This summer the shellacked pumpkins that I stored turned to mush in the 100 degree heat and leaked all over my other decorations.  So, that means a shopping trip for updated decorations.

I have yet to start on my final paper, the rough draft is due in two weeks... I guess I should start... maybe tomorrow!

Golf Outing

This morning DB and I went to the driving range and then played at the local par 3, 9 hole golf course.  That was after a grease filled hearty breakfast at the local Waffle House. (yuck yum) DB is one of those souls that is good at everything he tries.  He has great eye-hand coordination and is very athletic.

I on the other hand was always the last one chosen for any sport, ducked when balls came my way and can barely make contact with the ball.  I think it is all the rules, keep your arms straight, bend your knees, left shoulder under your chin, do not lift your feet, and that is before you even attempt to swing.

All the while, Doodle is encouraging me, "that was a really good swing, you just forgot to keep your arms straight, you did not bend at the knees, you are not looking at the ball..."

After a quick warm up on the driving range, we headed to the first tee.

Doodle hits the ball, down the fairway to the green.

I hit the ball, it rolls 10 feet!

I hit the ball again, it rolls 10 feet.

I hit the ball again... it flies out of bounds into the woods, never to be seen again. I am so excited the ball was actually in the air, this game just might be fun!

Over the entire course, I hit the ball into all possible sand-traps, water features, the woods and onto the adjoining fairway, where the gentlemen were nice enough to stop and watch me try to make contact with the ball, to get it back into my area.  My average score per hole was 8.  Luckily all the swing and misses do not count, I would have easily averaged 15 or more!

The best part of golf, spending time with Doodle.  We laughed, got some exercise and have plans to try it again next weekend.  Next time, I am bringing the camera... watch out golfers, here I come!

Say Hi to Tracy Everyone

One of the blogs I read on a regular basis is The World According to Tracy.  I enjoy this blog for a number of reasons:

Tracy keeps me up to date on the world of reality TV
She is an excellent writer and I laugh out loud weekly at something she says
Finally, she posts great recipes and wine selections

This week Tracy received a blogging award (YEAH) - The Liebster Award (meaning “friend” in German) is meant to connect us even more and spotlight new bloggers who have less than 200 followers.

Tracy was nice enough to mention my blog in her post and I just wanted to give a big shout out to my twenty followers to visit Tracy and say "hi"!

Peeing on Pumpkins

The deer have been eating my pumpkin plants, at least I am assuming it is the deer as the tops of the tomato plants were eaten as well.  They have consumed three plants leaving me with one plant that is looking good and two smaller plants that are hanging on for deer (he he) life.

I was complaining about this to a friend and she stated that here in the South, to keep the deer out of the garden, people pee along the perimeter and use human hair.  So with that in mind, I send Doodle an email asking him to pee on the pumpkins when he returns home last night.  Our conversation was quite animated about the topic but I finally convinced him this is something that will save the pumpkins.

SO... last night, Doodle peed outside on the pumpkins.  In the middle of the night, he actually stumbled outside and peed again.  My contribution to the growth of the pumpkins... hair from my brush.  I have to admit, I am beginning to wonder if my friend is strictly making this up in order to get a laugh.

Our pumpkins are surrounded by hair and pee.  I never in my life that I would say that!

I Miss You Today

I miss you today, Grandma.
I miss talking with you.
I miss your laughter,
I miss your wise thoughts and words of encouragement.

I miss telling you about my day,
I miss complaining that someone stole my parking spot,
I miss you telling me that, they must have been in a hurry and needing the spot more.
I miss discussing current events and crying over lost souls,
I miss the sound of your voice and you telling me the same story a hundred times.
I know that I will see you again...
But, know that I am missing you every day until that day.
I love you.

Always Remember

Do you remember where you were 10 years ago?  I do.  I had gotten engaged just days before and then the attacks, I remember the happiness giving way to sadness and then anger.

Ten years later, the anger has again turned to sadness.

Sadness, in the lives lost.
Sadness, that we lost our innocence.
Sadness, that we still fight for the right to be Americans.
Do you remember where you were 10 years ago?

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

"Maybe you don't like your job, maybe you didn't get enough sleep, well nobody likes their job, nobody got enough sleep.  Maybe you just had the worst day of your life, but you know, there's no escape, there's no excuse, so just suck up and be nice”.

How Bout Them Broncos!

Let me preface this by saying, I am not a college football fan; however, I live in the South; which eats, breaths, and lives football.  So when my alma mater is playing the biggest school in Georgia...I admit, I watched parts of the game and let me just say...

How Bout Them Broncos!

Shutting down the Georgia Bulldogs, 35 to 21.

Of course everyone talks about the blue field of BSU and I totally agree, it is ugly but it certainly has down the job of making people talk.  I hope that Boise State continues to have a successful football program, they certainly did not while I was there.

Best Day

Look what DB gave me for my birthday!  It is perfect, I have been wanting a "squirrel buster" bird feeder that is designed for the larger birds like cardinals.

I also got treated to breakfast out this morning at J. Christopher.  It is a good place to have breakfast or lunch.  I have the best husband, I am so lucky to have him in my life.  Thank you my husband.

Late Summer Blooms

Do you know what plant produces this beautiful flower?  I have been trying all summer to get a picture, the bloom only opens for a day or two and then drops off.  I would have never guessed that this plant would produce such a pretty flower... okra!  You know that slimy fuzzy vegetable that we have more than we know what to do with.  Nature is so impressive!

The pumpkins have sprouted.  I am so excited that they are growing and doing well, I was a bit worried that they would not come up.  I am exceeding doubtful they will produce pumpkins by Halloween but I do not care.  I am thrilled to watch the little plants grow.
