Jiffy Starts

Today, Doodle and I are going to get our tomatoes planted.  We usually wait until the middle of April to ensure we are past the freezing point but it has been in the mid 80s this week and I think we are safe to plant.  We also decided to try starting plants from seed this year and they have been growing for a couple of weeks now in our kitchen and by the front window.

In order from left to right we planted:
Arugula
Basil
Bibb Lettuce
Cilantro
Onion
Oregano

Parsley
Pumpkins (starting early this year!)
Radishes
Spinach

It is just about time to thin out the plants that are not doing as well to allow the others the greatest chance of growth.  In a couple more weeks, they should be strong enough to go outside and then into the additional planters that we are working on. I hope that we can have a large variety of vegetables this summer so we do not have to buy as many.
